FAQs

  1. How to I book a tutoring appointment?

Look for our ‘Learning Centre_Tutor Booking’ module located on the main page of MySeneca. You will find it under the Login module. Select the link to our Web-site, ‘Learning Centres’. Select the ‘Book a Tutor’ tab. Finally, select the link on that page to access our booking system.

  2. How do I cancel my appointment?

Login to the booking system just like you did to make your appointment. You will see an icon appear that says ‘View/Cancel Your Appointments’. Select this option and then select the appointment you need to cancel.

  3. I am getting an error message that says I am no longer able to book appointments. What is wrong?

You may have cancelled too many appointments or not shown up to your scheduled appointments. Please reach out to the Learning Centre to let them know. We can be reached at learning.centres@senecacollege.ca

  4. What happens if I miss my appointment?

We understand that things happen and sometimes we cannot keep our commitments. Having said that, when you miss an appointment you scheduled, we have a tutor sitting idly while another student probably needs their help. Do your best to cancel your appointments in a timely way to give others a chance. If you miss too many appointments, you will end up being locked out of the booking system and will not be able to make appointments in the future.

  5. How do I connect with my tutor after I have booked an appointment?

Students are sent an email to their myseneca.ca email account with a WebEx link a few minutes before the start time of their appointment. Only join the link at the start time of your booked appointment.

  6. Do I have to pay for tutoring?

No. There is no additional fees charged for tutoring or attending any of our workshops

  7. What should I do if there are no tutors available to help me or I do not see my course listed?

We want to hear from you. Please email us at learning.centres@senecacollege.caand let us know what you are looking for. We will do our best to find it.

  8. What should I prepare for my tutoring session?

Take the time to review your textbook, readings and notes from class. Try to determine where the gaps are in your understanding. You will want to focus on that during your tutoring session. Bringing the relevant materials and your questions to your tutoring session will make it most productive.

  9. What should I do if I experience difficulties accessing my online tutoring session?

Reply to the email sent by your tutor earlier, notifying them that you are having difficulties so that you can troubleshoot the issue together. Please remember to test your computer prior to the session to ensure your microphone and speakers are working.

  10. How do I become a Peer Tutor?

Look under “Contact Us” and select “Apply to be a tutor” for information about the position, qualifications required and a link to apply.
