Recreation, Fitness, & Environment: Interprofessional Education

This guide was created to support the Recreation community at Seneca College. It showcases articles, documents, websites, and other resources of interest to the Recreation-based programs at Seneca.

What is Interprofessional Education (IPE)?

"Interprofessional education occurs when students from two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes"* 

"Interprofessional education involves educators and learners from 2 or more health professions and their foundational disciplines who jointly create and foster a collaborative learning environment. The goal of these efforts is to develop knowledge, skills and attitudes that result in interprofessional team behaviors and competence. Ideally, interprofessional education is incorporated throughout the entire curriculum in a vertically and horizontally integrated fashion" (Buring et al., 2009, p. 2).**
