Grip Limited Juicer Advertising Student Competition

Creative Advertising students won bronze in the Grip Limited Juicer Advertising Student Competition. The annual national advertising contest is hosted by Toronto advertising agency Grip Limited and is designed to test students on their strategic and creative advertising skills. This year, 19 teams from 12 colleges and universities from Ontario and Quebec took part in a case study involving Dare and its “Real Fruit” product line. Representing Seneca were Gianluca Venditti, Tahrell Miller, Chris Pomfret, Josh Levine, Tija Smith and Nicole Rajesky. Since this competition launched three years ago, Creative Advertising students from Seneca have always finished in the top three.

National Supply Chain Management Association Case Competition

Students from the School of International Business placed third in the recent National Supply Chain Management Association Case Competition. Seneca’s team finished first among Ontario postsecondary institutions, including several universities.

CPA Ontario College Case Competition

Six students from the School of Accounting and Financial Services represented the College at the annual CPA Ontario College Case Competition, which was held at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario on March 14. This year, 20 teams from 14 different Ontario colleges participated. Sanna Shingissova, Alex Vitorino and Deepak Bhagat made it to the finals, finishing just short of a medal in fourth place. Also competing for Seneca were Lilan Yin, Karic Lau and Hashim Farooq.

Seneca Places Second in Case Study Competition January 28, 2014

Seneca came in second place, the highest of any college, during the recent case study competition sponsored by the Canadian District of the Association for Operations Management.

Two Seneca teams, from Business Administration - Purchasing and Supply Management and Global Logistics and Supply Chain Management, competed against students from institutions as far away as Quebec and British Columbia.


Green Business Management Student Wins National Case Study November 22, 2013

Edmond Montgomery Publications invited college and university students from across Canada to assess a case study using the skills they have gained from business ethics and corporate social responsibility classes.

Green Business Mangement student Lynn Barber, pictured with Mike Thompson, Publisher, Higher Education for Emond Montgomery Publications, presented her case at a panel discussion on The Canadian Food Industry and Corporate Responsibility: Connecting the Dots. Speakers included the Jamie Cooney, CEO of Rowe Farms, and Jeremy Runnalls, Managing Editor of Corporate Knights magazine.


APICS OPM Group Wins Business Case Competition March 2013

On March 8th and 9th, 2013, two cross-disciplinary teams from Seneca participated in a Case Study Competition held by the Canadian District of the Association for Operations Management (APICS). There were eight teams participating from Algonquin, Mohawk, Durham, Fanshawe and Seneca. 

Cases were handed out after a banquet at 7:00 p.m. Friday evening. Presentations took place Saturday beginning at 10:00 a.m.  Teams worked through the night on their papers and presentations.  Seneca teams were awarded FIRST and SECOND place!

The first place team has won the privilege of representing Canada at the International APICS  Case Competition being held at the Annual International Conference in Florida in September, 2013.  The students are from the Purchasing and Supply Management (BAS), and the Global Logistics programs. 


Seneca Students Win Second Consecutive HR Case Competition March 7, 2013

For the second year in a row, students from Seneca won The Great Canadian HR - Business Student Case Study Competition. The College’s team of Natalie Pedrosa, Lennex Szeto, Alex Coleman and Rachel Iles defeated teams from Humber and
Sheridan to win this annual provincial event.

During the course of the competition, the students — who are all studying in the Human Resources Strategy and Technology Bachelor of Commerce degree — were tested on their ability to analyze and present a solution to a business case
study. For winning, the Seneca team received a $500 scholarship, which will be donated to C4S.

The students also won the People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by the conference delegates and earned each member of the team an eReader.

An outstanding team of faculty provided their expertise, time and support to help coach Seneca’s team. This dedicated group of coaches included Alfie Chang, Cal Barber, Bob Thompson, Ash Patel and Tracy Porter.

Four students from Seneca’s Business Administration – Human Resources Management program won The Great Canadian HR - Business Student Case Study Competition on April 2.

Seneca’s team of Laura Aitken, Ursula Carey, Deborah Giblin and Lydia McIntosh defeated George Brown and Centennial College to win this annual event, which was held at the Toronto Board of Trade.

During the course of the competition, the students were tested on their ability to analyze and present a solution to a business case study. For winning, the Seneca team received the $4,000 grand prize and a $1,000 scholarship on behalf of the College. They also won the People’s Choice Award, which is voted on by the conference delegates and earned each member of the team an iPad.
