News and Trade Publication Articles

Newspapers and trade publications provide articles on current topics facing companies and industries.

Newspapers will often include coverage of company events (mergers and bankruptcies of large companies, IPOs, etc.), economic trends, and major trends in industries. News articles are written for the general public, and may provide a good introduction to current topics. An excellent source for news articles is the Canadian Newsstream database.

Trade Publications (may also be referred to as trade journals or trade magazines) are publications targeted towards members of a specific profession or trade. They include coverage of current topics facing an industry, trends, etc. These publications can provide valuable information about industries and markets.

Examples of trade publications include Publishers Weekly, Progressive Grocer, and Beverage Industry. Look for these in business article databases, and filter search results to trade publications.
