Laptop Loan Program

All laptop users are expected to abide by the Seneca College Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy, and the Seneca Libraries’ Borrowing Policy.

Liability
All borrowers are responsible for loss, damage, and theft of the laptop while in their possession, as outlined in the Laptop Loan Agreement. The library will not assume responsibility for any lost files due to hardware/software failure and network interruptions. Any file(s) copied or downloaded to the laptop will automatically be removed and cannot be recovered after restart/reboot.

Eligibility
Laptops loans are restricted to current Seneca College students, faculty, and staff.
Community Borrowers, Direct Borrowers, and Alumni do not have access to the Seneca Libraries laptop loan program. 

Limitations
Eligible borrowers are permitted to borrow one laptop at a time.

Availability
Laptops are available for loan on a first-come, first-serve basis at the Borrower Services Desk.  The availability of a laptop can be checked at:  http://tinyurl.com/SenecaLaptop
Eligible borrowers must present their Seneca OneCard or Seneca library card and must sign the Laptop Loan Agreement form.

Loan Period
The loan period for a laptop is one day. Laptops may be borrowed for use outside the library, but may not be signed out on an overnight basis. Laptops are due thirty minutes prior to the library’s closing time.

Laptop Loan Agreement Form
All eligible borrowers must read and sign the Laptop Loan Agreement Form, once per semester. The form will be kept on file for one semester only.

Advance Booking
Advance booking is not available.

Fines
An administration fee of $25.00 will be charged if the laptop is kept overnight and an additional overdue fine of $10.00 per hour will be charged on overdue laptops.

Replacement & Damaged Cost
All borrowers are responsible for loss, damage, and theft of the laptop while in their possession. Borrowers are responsible for the full amount of repair or replacement charges. The replacement cost of a laptop is $850.00, in addition to the $25.00 administration fee.

A laptop will be considered lost two days after the due date and the replacement cost will be applied.
Any laptop malfunctions should be reported immediately to the Borrower Services staff.

Returns
Laptops must be returned in-person to the Borrower Services staff. Borrowers will be required to wait for the staff to verify that all laptop accessories/adapters have been returned.
