New Pilot at Newnham
The Newnham Borrower Services department is piloting the use of restaurant style pagers to hand out when all the laptops are signed out.
- Pagers are signed out for two hours (can be renewed after two hours if not paged).
- You must wait in the Library, Computing Commons or by Starbucks.
- Once paged, you have ten minutes to pick up the laptop.
Only current student, faculty, and staff may borrow laptops and is limited to 1 laptop per person.
Laptops are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at Borrower Services.
Laptops may be loaned for 1 day. Laptops are due thirty minutes prior to the library’s closing time. Laptops may be borrowed for use outside the library, but may not be signed out on an overnight basis.
The library will not assume responsibility for any lost files due to hardware/software failure and network interruptions. Any file(s) copied or downloaded to the laptop will be automatically removed and cannot be recovered after restart/reboot.
Overdue laptops fines are $10/hr. An administration fee of $25 will be charged if the laptop is kept overnight.
Replacement & Damaged Cost
All borrowers are responsible for loss, damage, and theft of the laptop while in their possession. Borrowers are responsible for the full amount of repair or replacement charges. The replacement cost of a laptop is $850, in addition to the $25 administration fee. A laptop will be considered lost two days after the due date and the replacement cost applied. Any laptop malfunctions should be reported immediately to Borrower Services staff.
Laptops must be returned directly to Borrower Services staff. Borrowers are required to wait for staff to verify that all laptop accessories/adapters have been returned.
