How to Cite Videos & DVDs in a Bibliography
When citing videos or DVDs in a bibliography, use the following format to comply with MLA standards:
Title. Director (if available) preceded by the abbreviation Dir. Producer (if available) preceded by the abbreviation Prod. Original Release Date (if relevant). Distributor, Year of release. Medium (Videocassette or DVD).
Example for video:
Don’t Get Caught in the Web. Dir. Alisa Anglesey. Prod. Jane Wilson. Brigham Young U, 2000. Videocassette.
Example for online video clip:
“Balloon Bowl.” Online video file. You Tube. You Tube, 8 June 2007. Web. 29 June 2009.
Example for DVD:
Frida. Dir. Julie Taymor. Prod. Sarah Green and Salma Hayek. Alliance Atlantis, 2003. DVD.
