Types of video cameras

  • We supply only digital video cameras, which record onto a mini DVD disc (DVD-R or DVD-RW). Maximum length is 1/2 hour at SP or 1 hour at LP. Students must supply their own mini DVD discs, which may be purchased from the Seneca Bookstore or any electronics store. When recording is finalized in the digital camera, these discs will play in any DVD player or computer DVD drive. Editing is not possible with these cameras.

Loan periods

  • 3 hour maximum booking period
  • No overnight loans
  • No Sunday loans
  • Only 1 camera booking is allowed at a time. Student groups are encouraged to practice their presentations in advance of booking the camera
  • If equipment is not picked up within ½ hour of your booking period, the booking will be cancelled
  • It is extremely important to return equipment promptly as video cameras are in high demand.

Important to note

  • Students must supply their own mini DVD discs (these are available for sale in the Seneca Bookstore or any electronics store)
  • Tripods are usually signed out with the video cameras
  • Users are encouraged to plug in the video cameras using the AC adapters rather than relying on the camera batteries
  • A.V. Technicians are pleased to provide instruction in the use of all equipment
  • Editing facilities are not available

Booking rooms

  • A.V. Services does not have rooms to book for videotaping purposes
  • Students may reserve one of the study rooms in the library. These rooms may be booked on-line up to one week in advance at http://library.senecacollege.ca Click on Group Study Rooms under About the Library. Please see Borrower Services staff for help with booking study rooms.
